Since 1998, Lubanski has authored a widely acclaimed skills/instructional column for Hockey Weekly -- a midwest based hockey trade publication that reaches thousands on a weekly basis. Lubanski has experience as a Lead Instuctor for USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program and as State of Michigan Coach-In-Chief for USA Hockey's InLine Hockey Program.
He is former Director of Skill Development for Rochester, NY based Maksymum Hockey in Michigan and was a frequent guest discussing his innovative skill teaching methodology on Maksymum's weekly radio show. He has coached individuals and teams (male and female) at all levels of both ice and roller hockey. He also led several championship baseball teams as a manager for the NFWB (North Farmington-West Bloomfield, MI) youth baseball organization.
From 2004 through today, he directs the Farmington Hill's (MI) Hockey Association's Tim Horton's TimBits Learn-To-Play program for 4-8 year-olds. He also performs individual and team skill enhancement sessions for FHHA and clubs throughout metropolitan Detroit. He coached the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 Michigan State (Northern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association) roller hockey club teams. His Michigan All Stars won the USA Hockey National InLine Roller Hockey Championship in 1996.
Lubanski was selected to coach the U-17 USA Hockey representative team at the World Jewish Ice Hockey championships in Metulla, Israel in July 2009. He is is USA Hockey certified Level 04 coach. He has worked at a number of hockey schools and has over 25 years total coaching experience. He played high school, junior and was a walk-on at Michigan State University.
Lubanski has lived in Farmington Hills, Mi for the past 28 years and has been married to wife Cathy for 28 years. Currently, he conducts coaching enhancement and parental guidance seminars as well as motivational speaking engagements. He also leads a Chicago, IL based consulting service where much of his focus is centered upon aiding ice hockey parents in learning the games fundamentals so that they may serve as a "pseudo coach and motivator" in an appropriate manner for/to their respective children.
His son Brett, age 20, is a stand-out (captain) player for the Kenai River Brown Bears (Alaska) of the NAHL and Brett also served as captain of the famed Detroit HoneyBaked Midget Major hockey club. He also has a son Eric, age 24--a graduate of Michigan State university and a daughter Allison, age 22-- graduate of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. His father Eddie Lubanski, is a world-renown former professional baseball player and bowler that is a member of five separate Halls of Fame.
