COACH LUBANSKI REVEALS The Single Greatest (Yet Virtually Unknown) SCORING PLAY Available In The Game Of Hockey Today!
By Paul Lubanski
Pavel Datsyuk's brilliant steal and surprise tuck-away goal in game three of the Detroit Red Wings current (2012) quarterfinal playoff series against Nashville reminded me to share with you the greatest yet most "secretive" scoring play in the annals of hockey. I say "secretive" because no one I have ever played with or was coached by has mentioned nor taught the play. That is, save for me.
And today, I share it with you.
It is so simplistic and easily implementable that you will laugh. Or possibly even cry that you hadn't though of utilizing it until now.
Ok, here it is: the play involves a forward in the offensive zone with full team-control of the puck heading with authority either east or west BEHIND the opponents cage. Upon a "signal" from an astute and alert teammate (a whistle or code word shouted)-he or she dishes the puck back against-the-grain to the trailing teammate who awaits with his/her stick on the surface fully prepared to "sneak" the puck in the opponents cage ala Datsyuk. Yes, we are often-times talking about a very difficult shooting/scoring angle chance--but so what? IT WORKS!
Why?
For the exact reason Datsyuk made the goalie look foolish--so will you. You see, the tender FULLY expected the puck to continue back along the rear wall and hence--he/she places his/her FULL FOCUS on that eventuality--head and body LEANING to thwart the wrap-around he/she expects. So, he/she NEVER contemplates a quick push-back in the opposite direction by the opposing player and besides--it takes quite awhile for today's typically larger-in-stature to reverse body momentum. You see, it is mostly because NO ONE ever goes back in the same direction with the puck when in such close proximity to the cage that cause the tenders' to think that he/she has it all covered!
"Thinks" is the operative word here.
So now that I've given you this "secret" scoring weapon, go out and take full advantage of the unwary netminders misguided focus.
(Practice the difficult angle shot incessantly from both the forehand and backhand perspectives--please...)
Again, this is easily the single greatest scoring play that is NEVER openly taught or discussed in hockey. Bar none.
I am proud to be the one to bring it to you.
Best of luck.
