2011 NIHL Seeding Round - Mites

As we did last year, Halloween is that time when I speculate on which NIHL teams will move up or down.  Actual movement is rare however.  Larry Beller of NIHL told me that only 10% of teams move up or down.  When it comes to Mites, no Silver teams moved up.

Looking at this year, there are 19 teams to split between Elite and Gold.  We will likely see only teams moving down to Silver like last year.  Also remember that we do not see the "geographic split" until the Silver and Bronze levels.

Update:  A reader forwarded to me the memo from Scott Larsen to NIHL clubs regarding the Mite level.  Elite will have 9 teams this year vs. 8 teams last year.  The same goes for Gold.  I have updated my prognostication with this in mind.

Here is CAY Hockey's unofficial prognostication with 1-2 games to go in the seeding round:

Mite Elite

No Brainers

Falcons
St. Jude
Leafs
Hawks
Winnetka

On The Bubble

Jaguars
Blues
Vikings
Glenview

Obviously the last couple of games can have a huge impact on the bubble teams.

Mite Gold

Bruins
Express
Sabres
Wilmette
Cyclones
Chargers
Ice Dogs
Northbrook

Headed to Silver

Winnetka #2
Redwings

Mite Silver That Could Move Up

Skokie
Huskies
Hawks #2

Again, it is not very likely that these teams do move up.  I say that if it happens, then it will be the Huskies based on goal differential.
