Blog: Mihockeykid on the Nationals and the AAA Conundrum

Mihockeykid.com has a post on the new AAA team in western Michigan as well as the debate on the right age to go AAA.  As this topic is a source of frequent disagreement among hockey parents, the post is an interesting read that is sure to spark some good discussion.

The blog rightly points out that there is elite talent at all levels of hockey in Michigan, thanks in part to the economic challenges faced by the Motor City and its burbs.  For me, this quote sums up the debate nicely:

As for those who claim AAA leads the hockey world in partiality, croneyism and favortism towards kids who shouldn't be playing at that level, they're just kidding themselves. There's plenty of that at every level of youth hockey. We can all look at a team and see kids who, from a talent standpoint, should not be there - and it's a subjective judgment at best whether is be House, A, AA or AAA.
