AHAI Suspension List 4-18-2011

Here is AHAI's suspenions list as of 4-18-2011:

Suspension_4_18_11.pdf

This month's story is one Coach Mike Tompkins of the Skokie Flyers Midget Major squad. He received a 1 year suspenion and 2 years probation ... reportedly for playing a goalie who was not rostered to the team in a fight-filled game at the State playoffs.

That's it for now. Keep your nose clean! Or else we might see you here one day.

  4. Anyone who would let their son play for this tool ought to have their head examined. It is so apparent he is a moronic egomaniac. I am being kind in my statements.

  9. HEARING HE IS SUSPENDED FOR ALLEGEDLY GOING INTO AN OPPOSING TEAMS LOCKER ROOM AND ATTACKING THE COACH. ANYONE WHO DOES THAT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO COACH. TOMPKINS COACHES AT THE MIDGET AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL BECAUSE BOYS AT THIS LEVEL ARE MORE WILLING TO ACCEPT CRAZY BEHAVIOR FOR THE MERE FACT THAT THEY HAVE LIMITED PLACES TO PLAY. WHAT I MEAN IS THAT IF YOUR PLAYING FOR TOMPKINS AT SKOKIE, AT THE MIDGET MAJOR LEVEL, AND YOU WANT TO LEAVE, WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO GO. ITS DIFFICULT TO GO TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION AND GET ON A TEAM. I HAVE HEARD PLAYERS AND PARENTS CONSTANTLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS GUY, BUT THEY STILL PLAY FOR HIM.. ITS CRAZY.. TOMPKINS IS A BULLY TO HIS PLAYERS .. AND PARENTS SHOULD STEP IN AND NOT LET THEIR SONS PLAY FOR THIS GUY. IF HIS TEAMS ARE SUCCESSFUL, ITS NOT FROM HIS COACHING, HE IS GOOD AT RECRUITING (YES RECRUITING) GOOD PLAYERS TO PLAY FOR HIM. JUST WATCH A GAME WHEN HIS TEAM IS LOSING, HE IS TOTALLY QUIET AND UNABLE TO CORRECT THE SITUATION OCCURRING ON THE ICE. WHEN HE DOES SAY SOMETHING,HE PROCEEDS TO SINGLE OUT A PLAYER, AND BELITTLE HIM AS THE REASON FOR THE TEAM NOT BEING SUCCESSFUL... THAT'S A FACT.

  11. He has been run out of every organization he has been at. Fremd, Chargers-let go, Prairie Ridge-let go (alleged stealing club money and player abuses), and Glenview ( one year suspension). Talk to past parents, they all have a story....no good coach has this much past baggage. AHAI files are littered with his devious and inappropriate acts. Some players may say he is a great coach, but those may also be the ones where they were treated as a potential meal ticket-future star...or he owed their parents money. Volumes have been written about this guy.

  12. Rumor has it he is no longer coaching for Maine hockey. Anyone know what happened there?

  13. He is a great coach! I played for him and have watched him coach others now that I am a coach. Great practices always pushing the kids to get more from themselves. No I am not one of "the ones where they were treated as a potential meal ticket-future star...or he owed their parents money." = D.B. Comment - I was a player that listened to a good coach and now coach myself, have my own successful business and apply many of his practice lessons and team building techniques BECAUSE THEY WORK AND ARE GOOD FOR KIDS! People seem to assume before actually getting to know someone - is he perfect no. Are you? I have had personal experience and make my own mind up, NOT BELIEVE WHAT I READ AND HEAR FROM OVERLY PROTECTIVE PARENTS WHO HAVE NOT A CLUE!

  14. Tompkins is a coach that also gives back to his community. Food drives, service. Yes, he wants things his way, however he is a good coach to his players and definitely knows what he is talking about.

  15. Coach T is one of the best coaches I have ever played for. Yeah he's a little crazy but that's his drive for hockey. I had my ups and downs with him but he has become a life long friend and a family member to me. He sticks up for his players in any situation because when you're on a hockey team every player and coach on your team becomes a brother . Coach T has moved up so many players to the college and junior hockey levels. Not only does Coach T improve your play on the ice,he also does it off the ice by maturing all of his players into men with class. He has NEVER encouraged any players to "rack up penalty minutes" like the comment said above. He's a great coach willing to teach you life long lessons on and off the ice.(former player)-Casey LaBonte
